Speech & Drama

Speech & Drama at Bedford Modern is taught by Mark Burgess, an experienced actor and playwright, to students from years 3 to 13. Speech & Drama helps to develop the skills necessary for effective oral communication of the written word, interpretive skills, technical skills and knowledge of literature. It also helps to build self-confidence and develop public speaking skills, as well as improve acting performance. Students work towards their LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations in 'The Speaking of Verse and Prose' or 'Acting'. They have a variety of oportunities to perform throughout the school year - in front of adjudicators at the Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech & Drama or at our own Tea-Time Presentations and Showcase Evenings.
